This document introduces the platform-driven service delivery model to the EGI community. It defines the term platform as such, and how IT platforms may fit into todays EGI ecosystem. 
After providing a first sketch of the architecture of a potential platform-driven future EGI community, the document explores how the described platforms might look like. 
Based on the material given in the earlier sections the document concludes with an outlook into a potential future, were the platform-based service delivery adopted by EGI.

This strategic plan outlines the initiatives that can take place within the EGI community over the next two years, supported through the FP7 EGI-InSPIRE in the first instance and subsequent related projects that will, in the future with further investment, develop EGI’s strengths in:

• Coordination, maintenance, operation and delivery of an open uniform European-wide federated production infrastructure
